AlwaysFree: The U.S’ KBR Granted Contract From China’s Shenghong Refining For VAM Catalyst

Author: SSESSMENTS

The U.S Houston’s KBR has been granted a supply contract for a project of Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) by China’s Shenghong Refining Petrochemical Co. Ltd.based in Lianyungang. In this agreement, KBR will cater Shenghong’s need of  proprietary catalysts to its grassroot VAM unit with a 300,000 ton/year capacity. The unit serves as the first commercial technology license for VAM and engineering contract under agreement between Showa Denko K.K. and KBR.

The KBR-SDK technology is backed by more than 40 years of experience through stable-and-safe operations of ethylene-based VAM by SDK at the Oita Petrochemical Complex in Japan. VAM is the intermediate key for polymers and resins production, resulting in end products such as coatings, films, adhesives, textiles, paints, and others.
