On Tuesday, officials of Saudi Aramco and BP discussed some of the technologies that could support the cut of the oil industry’s emissions.
David Eyton, executive vice president of innovation and engineering at BP said that electrification is the most potent force in the energy transition.
Saudi Aramco’s CTO Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter added that carbon capture and sequestration could also help.
The discussion also talked about the future of hydrogen in pushing the transition. Eyton elaborated that BP aims to take about a 10% market share by 2030 in its core markets.
