AlwaysFree: Aramco Excludes Some Emission Data In Disclosures To Investors

Saudi Aramco excluded emission data from some of its refineries in its self-reported disclosures to investors, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report said the state-owned company revealed the emission figure only from facilities it wholly owns and located inside Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, its overseas and joint venture operations were omitted.

Aramco argued that it used globally accepted guidelines to report its emission data. It said that total emissions from wholly-owned operations inside and outside the kingdom for 2020 would be reported this year. This report will be subject to third-party verification.

Bloomberg The report estimated that Aramco’s actual carbon footprint could be between 75 million tons and 113 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, nearly double the 55 million metric tons in the company’s disclosures.
