AlwaysFree: Canada’s TC Energy, Enbridge See Gas Opportunities Amid Clean Energy Shift

Author: SSESSMENTS

Canada’s largest pipeline operators TC Energy and Enbridge, see plenty of opportunities in their natural gas businesses amid the shift to clean energy sources, their CEOs said in an online energy symposium on Wednesday. TC Energy’s CEO François Poirier said the company’s assets would continue to be useful and generate cash for decades to come. Poirier said TC Energy would be able to deploy into the energy transition and fund organic bolt-on projects in the business.

At the same conference, Enbridge’s CEO Al Monaco said natural gas could provide reliable power backups to address the intermittency challenges of renewable generation. He also noted that natural gas played a crucial role in reducing the use of coal, which emits much more greenhouse gasses. Both companies have pledged to invest in clean energy projects and develop technologies to transport hydrogen.
