AlwaysFree: China’s CO2 Emissions Seen Higher than 2019

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Wednesday, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol estimated that in 2020, China’s CO2 gas emissions would be higher than in 2019 as the country has rebounded from the coronavirus outbreak.

Oil demand in the country is seen to be slightly higher this year compared to last year. Gas demand, on the other hand, would be significantly higher in 2020 compared to 2019.

He added that the IEA did not see any indications of a structural decline in oil demand.

On a related note, Birol expected that if the US President-elect Joe Biden would rejoin the Paris Agreement as a big push for clean energy innovations, the fight against climate change would see tremendous momentum.
