AlwaysFree: China-US Bilateral Trade Declined In H1: Customs Spokesman

Author: SSESSMENTS

China’s exports to the US and imports from the US both were down in the first half of 2020, according to the country’s customs spokesman Li Kuiwen. Li said that exports to the US fell by 8.1%, while imports decreased by 1.5% in the first six months of the year, compared to the corresponding period last year.

However, it remains unclear whether the statistics provided by Li were yuan-denominated or dollar-denominated. China’s customs administration has yet to release dollar-denominated figures for overall bilateral trade for the period. Li also noted that China and the US should make favourable conditions to fulfil commitments under the Phase-1 trade deal.
