The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) will strengthen cooperation as China aims to reach its carbon neutrality goals.
IRENA will set a comprehensive energy transition roadmap recognizing essential policy actions, technology solutions, and industrial development programs for China to realize the medium-and-long-term national renewable energy goals and decarbonization aims.
Both parties will also work together to include the identification of optimal sub-national pathways to carbon neutrality. Further, they will include the collaborations inside multilateral settings including G20 and ASEAN, along with analysis of technological solutions around the integration of high shares of variable renewables which include smart grids, energy storage solutions, and technology standards.
IRENA and NEA will also work together to produce and utilize renewable fuels, such as biofuels, hydrogen, and e-fuels.
