Author: SSESSMENTS

On Monday, NextDecade Corp. announced that it had earned an authorized order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its Rio Grande LNG facility in Brownsville, Texas, to non-free trade agreement (non-FTA) countries.

The company is authorized to bring natural gas from the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale to the global LNG market.

The Rio Grande facility has a liquefaction capacity of 27 million tpa of LNG. It would receive 4.5 bcfpd of natural gas from the Agua Dulce area via the Rio Bravo Pipeline. It is now authorized to export 3.61 Bcfpd of LNG.

The facility is estimated to create 5,000 jobs during the peak of the construction project and the infrastructure investment could exceed USD15 billion. NextDecade would make a final investment decision (FID) on the project this quarter. It could be operational by 2023.
