A Peruvian government official said on Thursday that state-owned Petroperu had reached a deal with protesters to end a 2.5-month takeover of its 200,000 bpd North Peruvian oil pipeline (ONP). The company halted pumping oil through ONP after indigenous communities took over the pipeline’s main pumping station, demanding greater social spending in the northern Amazon jungle. Petroperu is expected to take a week to inspect the pipeline before restarting the pipeline.
