AlwaysFree: Turkey Expects Major Rise in Auto Exports

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Monday, Turkey’s Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan said that the country would likely see a major rise in automotive exports in the upcoming months after the coronavirus crisis.

Germany, she said, would remain one of Turkey’s most important markets. Last month, Germany made up 12.8% of the Turkish auto exports.

In September, the country’s exports to Germany jumped by 10.6% year-on-year, rebounding from the 8.6% drop in the first nine months of 2020.

Turkey’s auto imports from the country skyrocketed by 115% to USD1.5 billion in the January-September period. Auto exports to Germany hit USD2.5 billion in the period.

According to Ismail Gülle, the head of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly, the country’s auto exports had returned to the level before the coronavirus-related crisis in September.
