AlwaysFreeRegister: India's Reliance Aims At increasing PET Bottle Recycling Capacity

India's largest petrochemicals producer Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) aims at increasing its PET bottles recycling capacity, an official from the company said. RIL is one of India's largest post-consumer PET waste recyclers, with a capacity of 2 billion bottles. RIL has signed an MoU with an undisclosed partner(s) to increase its capacity to 5 million bottles.


RIL has a recycling initiative has installed reverse vending machines at Reliance's SMART stores and various other locations where PET end-users can submit their empty bottles. The company has also launched an initiative to use plastic waste to construct roads. The initiative has so far built three plastic-to-roads pilot projects.
