AlwaysFreeRegister: Singapore’s ChemOne To Build Aromatics Plant In Johor

A US$3.38 billion aromatics plant launched by ChemOne Group in Johor.  The project will add value to Malaysia’s value chain in downstream oil and gas. Plant Construction is expected to start in the middle of this year.

Through sponsorship in the Pengerang Energy Complex (PEC), ChemOne is the master developer and majority shareholder.

For the project, Maire Tecnimont (Italy) is the Group’s partner in engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.  From 2024, annual export turnover of US$5 billion for Malaysia is expected from PEC at full capacity.

Over 7,000 employees will be hired by PEC during its four-year construction phase.  It will employ 250 staff once it begins operations, of which 80 percent will be Malaysians. Various service providers, external contractors, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will also be hired by ChemOne.
