AlwaysFree: Agilyx, TechnipFMC Jointly Develop Polystyrene Recycling

Author: SSESSMENTS

Agilyx Corp. and TechnipFMC recently announced an exclusive collaboration to develop a purification process to convert Agilyx Styrene Oil into high-purity styrene. The partnership aims at pioneering a new styrene production process by using post-use polystyrene products. The purification process will be based on Agilyx’s existing depolymerization technology which can yield recycled styrene with comparable properties and functionality of styrene produced by conventional manufacturing processes.

Agilyx CEO Joe Vaillancourt said the collaboration could improve both companies’ expertise to meet rising global demand for recycled content in plastic products. Meanwhile, Stan Knez, the President of TechnipFMC Process Technology, said the development is part of the company’s drive to provide the market with sustainable process technologies and accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.
