Author: SSESSMENTS

Polystyrene producer AmSty and plastic recycler Agilyx Corporation have agreed to work together in exploring the development of an advanced recycling facility. At the initial phase, the jointly-owned facility is aimed to convert 50 to 100 tons/year of post-consumer polystyrene into virgin-equivalent styrene monomers using Agilyx’s advanced recycling technology. It will be built at AmSty’s styrene production site in St. James, Louisiana. The facility will utilize

A feasibility study for the project is currently underway. However, the timeline for construction and commissioning remained unavailable. AmSty’s CEO Randy Pogue said recycling polystyrene required 40% less energy compared to those needed to recycle other polymers.
