The commercial launch of ZEAL which is a new Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) additive product has been announced by BASF. In FCC units that process resid or gasoil feedstocks, ZEAL is designed to enhance the production of light olefins.
The increasing shift to petrochemical feedstocks can be quickly responded by refiners by using ZEAL. While maintaining the base catalyst performance, ZEAL has been optimized to deliver superior propylene yields.
The ability to deliver high propylene selectivity and yields has been confirmed by ZEAL commercial trials. Through the higher content of zeolitic active sites in a new propylene FCC additive, this innovative technology from BASF enhances performance. As refiners increasingly shift toward a crude-to-chemicals configuration in the future, successful applications have demonstrated ZEAL’s ability to provide operating flexibility.
