AlwaysFree: Borealis Signs Power Purchase Deals For Finland Complex

Author: SSESSMENTS

Borealis has signed two long-term deals to source 20 megawatts of renewable electricity in ten years for its petrochemical complex in Porvoo, Finland. The power purchase agreements (PPAs) were signed with Neste, Borealis’ partner in the Porvoo complex and Ilmatar, a Finish wind farm operator. This power supply will contribute to 13% of Porvoo complex’s electricity consumption.

Borealis plans to source at least 50% of its total electricity supply from renewable sources for its polyolefins, hydrocarbon, and energy businesses by 2030. The deal will help to reduce indirect carbon dioxide emissions at its Porvoo site by approximately 16 kilotons/year, the company said.
