AlwaysFree: Dow On Course To Achieve 2025 Sustainability Goals

Author: SSESSMENTS

Dow on September 11 said that it had achieved $500 million of savings from its “Valuing Nature” goal, marking the halfway through the targeted $1 billion under its 2025 Sustainability Goals launched in 2015. Dow claims that its 2025 Sustainability Goals is the first-ever corporate initiative to systematically consider nature in its business decisions on a large scale.

The projects under the goals include the industrial water reuse from municipal effluent at Dow’s facility in Terneuzen, The Netherlands. According to Dow, the project results in 2.5 million m3/year of water reuse which helps to reduce energy consumption by 96.5% and lower maintenance costs. Dow, in cooperation with a local water treatment company Evides, will develop the project further to eliminate the freshwater use from the Biesbosch region.

Earlier in 2020, the company launched aggressive new sustainability commitments to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The new goals also include improving the company’s positive impacts on society and removing plastic waste in the environment.
