AlwaysFree: Indonesia’s Chandra Asri Awards FEED Contracts For Second Petrochemical Complex

Indonesia’s PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Chandra Asri Perkasa, has awarded Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contracts for its second world-scale petrochemical complex (CAP2) in Banten, Indonesia. The selected contractors are Toyo Engineering Corp, Samsung Engineering Co Ltd, Wood, and PT Haskoning Indonesia. Chandra Asri will select engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors after the FEED phase and will make a final investment decision (FID) after the EPC bidding is completed next year.

Previously, Chandra Asri Chandra Asri selected Thaioil as a strategic investor to partner in the development of CAP2. The company also successfully completed a limited public offering process which raised additional equity capital of IDR15.5 trillion ($1.1 billion).

CAP 2 will include a naphtha cracker capable of producing up to 1.1 million tons/year of ethylene and 600,000 tons/year of propylene. It will also house downstream plants to produce up to 450,000 tons/year of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), 300,000 tons/year of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and 450,000 tons/year of polypropylene (PP). The complex is slated for startup in 2026.
