Indonesia’s state-owned PT Pertamina (Persero) has let an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. for its Balikpapan refinery upgrade and modernizing. The project is a part of the USD3.9 billion Balikpapan Refining Development Master Plan (RDMP).
Hyundai Engineering will deliver the project’s EPC services for a duration of 53 months. The contract is worth USD2.17 billion. It will also include the construction of units that will enable the refinery to produce fuels complying with Euro-5 quality standards.
The current production capacity of the refinery is 260,000 bpd, and the project will expand it to 360,000 bpd.
