AlwaysFree: Iran’s Strategic Oil Pipeline Project 60% Complete

Author: SSESSMENTS

Iran’s 1,000-km Goreh-Jask crude oil pipeline is 60% complete, according to Touraj Dehqani, the head of Iran’s Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC). The official added that as of Monday, about 650 km of pipes had been made available in the project site. He said that pipe manufacturers would put extra efforts to deliver all of the required pipes timely within the next three months. He also said that local manufacturers would deliver the main pumps required for the launching of the project’s first phase.

President Hassan Rouhani launched the project in late June. At that time, Rouhani called the pipeline Iran’s most strategic project. It is expected to expand crude delivery capacity to the south of the country to 1 million bpd. Rouhani said a total of $300 million had been invested and it would require an additional $800 million to $850 million investment to achieve full operations.

The Goreh-Jask pipeline will ship 1 million bpd of heavy and light crude oils to the Jask oil terminal in the Hormozgan province in southern Iran. Dehqani said that the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) could ship first crude cargo from the Jask export facility to overseas markets by the end of this Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2021).
