Iranian researches have found a way to produce gasoline and petrochemical products with natural gas via a very cheap method which will enable the country to be the pioneer of producing cheap gasoline and petrochemical products.
Researchers at the Amirkabir University of Technology have able to convert natural gas into light olefins by MTO method for producing catalysts. Then, to slash the cost and accelerate the procedure, the ultrasonic waves were utilized in the project.
Dr. Es'haq Moradian, the executive manager of the project titled ‘Study on the selectivity of light olefins in MTO process using SAPO composite nanocatalysts prepared by ultrasonic waves’ elaborated that the catalyst used in the method was the first catalyst in the world that has been produced by the help of natural minerals extracted from mines.
“Thanks to the cheap gas resources in Iran, we are able to produce these products using natural gas to prevent selling raw materials and to convert natural gas into these products with much higher added value,” he said.
