Roberto Gualtieri, the Minister of Economy of Italy announced the delay of the EUR450/tonne (USD488.6/tonne) tax on virgin plastic originally scheduled to come into effect on July 1, to 2021.
The tax would have applied to all virgin plastics, excluding recycled plastics and compostable bioplastics.
According to Polimercia, the country’s parliament will address the tax this week. However, there is still no exact date being set for the implementation.
