AlwaysFree: Libya’s NOC Revokes Force Majeure On Sharara Field

Author: SSESSMENTS

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said it was revoking force majeure (FM) on Sharara oilfield from Sunday after the company reached an agreement with LNA-backed militias to end all obstructions at the field, Aljazeera reported. Separately, sources familiar with the company operations said initial production at Sharara is expected at 40,000 bpd. Before the blockade, Sharara produced around 300,000 bpd of oil. The sources said that Sharara oil would mostly be fed to Zawiya oil refinery.

Libyan oil output fell to near zero in January due to a conflict between the internationally-recognised government based in Tripoli and eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA) commanded by Khalifa Haftar. However, Khalifa Haftar, whose loyal forces blockaded the country’s oil infrastructure, pledged last month to lift the blockade. The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Saturday said that both parties would hold face-to-face talks on Tunisia with aims to set up a unified governance framework to conduct national elections.
