AlwaysFree: Nigeria’s Edo Refinery, Petrochemicals Revealed Production Targets

On Tuesday, Nigeria’s Edo Refinery and Petrochemical revealed its target to refine 60,000 bpd of crude oil in the future.

Edo Refinery and Petrochemical is a project partly sponsored by the Edo State and being developed by AIPCC Energy Ltd. Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki committed NGN700 million (USD1.8 million) to the company. 

The site at Ologbo, Ikpoba-okha Local Government Area of Edo State will have its modular refinery operating between end-September and mid-October. 

The project is planned to go through the first phase which would target 1,000 bpd, later the second phase of 6,000 bpd, and in the long run 60,000 bpd. At the moment, the project’s first phase is 99% completed. It would consist of four commodities, which are 55% of diesel, 38% of fuel oil, less than 10% of naphtha and the rest will be gas.

The Edo facility is planning to cover more than 80% of Nigeria’s diesel requirement in five years, and at the moment have already employed more than 300 workforces.

According to Segun Okeni, Head Quality, Health and Safety/ Community Relations of the facility, there are plans currently in progress to source crude from the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) near the site.
