AlwaysFree: Poland To Replace Russian Oil With Supplies From US, Persian Gulf And North Sea

Author: SSESSMENTS

  • According to Daniel Obajtek, by acting this way Poland reduced the share of Russian oil used by the country to 10%

According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on January 25, 2023, the largest Polish oil refinery Orlen intends to replace oil from Russia with supplies from the United States, the regions of Persian Gulf and the North Sea.

The company’s CEO Daniel Obajtek said this in his speech on Friday.

As Obajtek recalled, Poland will not renew the contract with Rosneft, which was in effect until January, or sign a new contract.

"Orlen will provide 3.6 tons of oil from other directions. These directions are the Persian Gulf, the North Sea, as well as the United States. We have these agreements fully prepared," he said.

According to him, by acting this way Poland reduced the share of Russian oil used by the country to 10%.

"We are getting a diversification of deliveries to the Orlen system which is by 90% not from the Russian direction," he said, admitting that "this is a big challenge."

The expired contract with Rosneft provided for the supply of up to 300,000 tons of oil per month. Orlen's contract with another Russia oil company, Tatneft, which was concluded for 200 thousand tons of oil per month is still effective and expires in December 2024. Orlen delivers Russian oil through pipelines. Poland refused to purchase Russian oil by sea after the start of the special military operation.
