AlwaysFree: Saudi Aramco Ramps Up Operating Rate At New Jizan Refinery

Author: SSESSMENTS

Saudi Aramco said in its internal Arabian Sun publication that its new Jizan refinery is running at 50% of capacity toward the final commissioning phase. The 400,000 bpd plant is the kingdom’s most complex refinery. It produces low-sulfur fuels and petrochemicals from naphtha. It also houses power and gasification facilities. Jizan refinery was initially slated for start-up in 2018, but it began tests in January 2021 after eight-year construction. Aramco is expected to ramp up operations further in Jizan next year. The refinery will process Arabian Heavy and Medium crudes to produce up to 75,000 bpd of gasoline, 250,000 bpd of ultra-low sulfur gasoil, and 90,000 bpd of vacuum residue used to generate electricity for the refinery and the national grid.
