AlwaysFree: Sinopec Launches In-Depth Research On CO2 Emissions, Carbon Neutrality

China’s state-owned refiner Sinopec has partnered with three top institutions in Beijing, China, to conduct in-depth research on CO2 emissions peak and carbon neutrality in the energy and chemical industry. Sinopec will work with industry and academic experts on the research to develop a strategic path to have CO2 emissions peak and achieve carbon neutrality before 2030, in line with China’s climate goals.

In recent years, Sinopec has promoted its green and low-carbon corporate development strategy. Under the strategy, the company actively controls its greenhouse gas emissions and promotes the development of new energy sources such as biomass, geothermal, and hydrogen. Sinopec aims at accelerating the program to phase out its outdated production capacity, through its “energy efficiency improvement” plan.
