AlwaysFree: Subsea 7 Pipeline Facility Delayed By Environmental Studies

Author: SSESSMENTS

Subsea 7 proposed oil and gas pipeline fabrication facility is delayed after West Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority was asked by the state government to suspend further environmental study in the project until June 2021. Until that time, the agency will conduct cumulative impact assessments of current activities and planned development on the Ningaloo coast south of Exmouth. Subsea 7 planned to build the facility at Learmonth, around 35 kilometres south of Exmouth.

The move followed the federal government’s decision to exclude some areas in the region from the new exploration permit licensing round for this year. Besides, a petition to stop oil and gas activity within the Ningaloo coast area have been signed by more than 30,000 people.
