AlwaysFree: TurkStream Commemorates Fourth Anniversary of First Signing

Author: SSESSMENTS

TurkStream commemorates the fourth anniversary of the natural gas pipeline project between Russia and Turkey.

Oleg Aksyutin, CEO of the TurkStream project company, elaborated that the project faced many challenges in bringing energy supply security to Turkey and the Balkans as the world’s biggest-diameter offshore gas pipeline project had a strict schedule.

He mentioned the newly discovered aircraft wrecks and archeological pieces of interest on the Black Sea seabed as one of the challenges in laying the pipeline at extreme depths of 2,200 meters.

He called the project a daring one with expert teams worked around the clock to complete the project punctually under the support of the Turkish and Russian governments and people.

On January 1, 2020, the two 930-kilometer-long offshore lines stretching from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea started the commercial supplies. Its total capacity is 31.5 bcm, consisting of one 15.75 bcm line to supply Turkey’s domestic market and the second line with the same capacity carrying Russian gas further to Europe through Bulgaria.
