AlwaysFree: US Gulf Coast Has 30% Of Crude Oil Production Still Offline After Hurricane Ida

Author: SSESSMENTS

According to the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), about 537,000 bpd (30%) of crude oil production and some 879 Mcfd (39%) of natural gas output in the US Gulf of Mexico remained shut as of Wednesday, September 15. The regulator also said that the crew had not returned to 36 platforms since Ida. About 25.5 million barrels of crude and 31 Bcf of gas were estimated to have been removed from the market due to Ida.

Equinor’s Titan platform suffered from limited damage from the storm, but its production remained down on Wednesday. BP said it was restarting production at its offshore platforms in the US Gulf of Mexico, while seven of ten platforms operated by Occidental Petroleum remained offline. Murphy Oil said it brought staff back to platforms soon after Ida passed, while W&T Offshore said its assessments found no significant damage to platforms or related infrastructure.
