AlwaysFree: US September Crude Output Dipped Due to Hurricane Ida

Author: SSESSMENTS

In September, US crude oil output dipped on the back of Hurricane Ida which temporarily halted most crude production in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

According to a monthly report from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), production dropped by 380,000 bpd to 10.8 million bpd as the output from the offshore Gulf of Mexico fell by 464,000 bpd, offsetting onshore gains.

Hurricane Ida affected 96% of crude oil production and 94% of natural gas production in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The onshore output gained as oil output in Texas rose 87,000 bpd in the month, and North Dakota had a gain of 8,000 bpd.

September also recorded a gain in petroleum demand by 9.8% or 1.8 million bpd annually. For distillates, demand was up by 6.8% from a year earlier, while gasoline demand rose by 5%.

The US natural gas output excluding Alaska dropped to 104,672 million cfd in September, compared to  105,354 in August. Offshore, the production also fell by 40% in the month to 1,203 million cfd.
