According to sources familiar with plant operations, Valero Energy Corp. will shut the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker (FCC) and small crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Port Arthur refinery in Texas.
The sources added that Valero also stopped the restarting process of its 100,000 bpd coker and is also planning the partial shutdown of the entire refinery as a sudden change of plans on the preparation for the two approaching tropical storms.
The chemical plant plans to shut down by Tuesday afternoon.
