AlwaysFreeRegister: Celanese Submits Anti-Dumping Petition On Imports Of South Korean Polyethylene In EU

Author: SSESSMENTS

US-based chemical maker Celanese Corporation has submitted an anti-dumping petition to the Directorate-General For Trade of the European Commission on the imports of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) from South Korean producer Korea Petrochemical Industry Co., Ltd. (KPIC) into the European Union.

Previously, Celanese also filed an anti-dumping case with the US authorities against UHMWPE imports from KPIC. The investigation on the alleged dumping practices by KPIC is currently underway in the US. According to Celanese, its UHMWPE business suffers for over the last several years due to KPIC’s “destructive pricing practice.”

UHMWPE is used across several industries, including construction, transportation, agriculture, textiles, mining, marine, plastics, battery separators, material handling, high-performance fibres, wastewater treatment, pulp & paper, food & beverage, and oil & gas.
