- A converter in the Philippines reported to SSESSMENTS.COM that the leading polyolefins producer in the country adjusted offers for HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4. Compared to last week, offers for the former increased by PHP1,000/ton ($20/ton) while for the latter by PHP2,000/ton ($40/ton) due to higher ethylene prices. Offers for both grades now stand at PHP52,000/ton ($1,041/ton) on cash, FD Philippines basis and including 12% VAT. The converter commented that even before the adjustments, offers from the producer are already too high. Hence, the current offers will be unworkable. From the import market, offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer for LLDPE Film C4 to the country remain stable at last week’s level, at $820/ton on LC at sight, CIF Manila Port. The converter further informed that the company is unable to fulfill all orders from the customers as the factory is still running at a low rate, 50% of the normal rate this week, due to labor shortage stemming from transportation issues.
- Similar to the Philippines, offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer to Vietnam were also stable compared to last week. A converter in the country told SSESSMENTS.COM that the producer has limited volume to offer. The converter decided to skip procurement this week because the converter believes that PE prices could not sustain at the current level due to unsupportive demand. The converter predicts that there will be some downward adjustments on prices at the end of June.
