- A trader in the Philippines contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team commented that the price gap between local PE materials and import materials is thin. As such, buyers prefer to procure local materials. As the import market in the Philippines is not encouraging, the trader is contemplating whether to offer import cargoes or procure local materials and offer it to the export market. There are positive expectations for the local PE market since Metro Manila is currently under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), which allows the resumptions of business activities with some safety guidelines. However, it is going to be a long process as businesses need to find their footing. The trader opined that the Philippines market will fully recover in Q4 2020.
- Whereas in Indonesia, the leading polyolefins producer in the country has announced the fresh offers for the week commencing June 8. As compared to last week’s price list, SSESSMENTS.COM noted that the offers for HDPE Film surfaced with increases of between IDR120,000-130,000/ton ($8.5-9.2/ton). For LLDPE Film C4, the offers went up by IDR140,000/ton ($9.9/ton).
