NewsSSESSMENTS: Chinese Trader Shares Latest Import Thai PP Offers, Addresses China-India Border Dispute

Author: SSESSMENTS

A Chinese trader shared with SSESSMENTS.COM on the latest import Thai PP offers to the China market while addressing the current China-India border dispute. As informed, the trader received import offers for PP Block Copolymer, PP Homo Injection, and PP Random Copolymer Extrusion from a Thai PP producer this week. In comparison to a month earlier, current offers from the producer are available between $50-80/ton higher. As the producer’s offers are deemed sky-high, the trader is reluctant to take the cargoes.

As SSESSMENTS.COM noted, rising tensions between China and India are spilling over into the shipping industry. Amid a backlash against China over a border clash, Indian customs officials have held shipments originating from China at checkpoints for additional checks. The authorities have not released any official statement regarding the extra checks, but market talks have it that customs officials have been given “internal” government instructions to manually inspect all cargoes originating from China. Despite an escalation in a recent border clash, the trader said that their previous orders for import PP Homo Injection cargoes from an Indian supplier are now being shipped, which implies the situation appears to be returning to normal.
