According to an announcement by Shanghai Wison Engineering seen by SSESSMENTS.COM, Connell Chemical Industry Ltd’s new methanol-to-olefins (MTO) unit in Jilin City, China had achieved on-specification propylene and ethylene production on April 18 and 20, respectively.
The new 300,000 tons/year MTO unit, which is part of the plant’s first phase, utilizes Wison Engineering’s olefin recovery and separation technology as well as Honeywell UOP’s Advanced MTO/OCP (olefins cracking process) reaction technologies. The second phase will expand the facility’s MTO capacity to 600,000 tons/year. However, the cost and the timeframe for the second phase remain undisclosed.
