Local PVC offers on cash, EXW China basis (including 13% VAT in CNY term, excluding VAT in USD term)
A Chinese trader is questioning the sustainability of the current local price PVC trend as import cargoes will shower the China market in the foreseeable future. A Chinese trader updated SSESSMENTS.COM about the PVC prices, inventory, supply and demand in the China market this week. The acetylene-based and ethylene-based PVC prices have both increased from last week, acetylene-based PVC is up between CNY150-200/ton ($21-28/ton) while ethylene-based PVC increased by CNY300/ton ($42/ton) compared to last week’s levels. As for demand, even though there are not many deals or inquiries, sales for pipe and pelletizing PVC are still considered good, while sales for PVC sheet, film and other finished goods remain slow.
As for the inventory, the trader informed that as of Monday (May 18) morning, acetylene-based PVC inventory in coastal China stood at 396,800 tons, reduced by 14,400 tons from last week. In South China, the inventory recorded at 114,000 tons, decreased by 4,000 tons; while in East China inventory stood at 282,800 tons, a reduction of 10,400 tons. SSESSMENTS.COM was told that there will be high volume of import ethylene-based PVC cargoes arriving to China ports in the near term, which will significantly boost supply and will suppress the prices. However, since many local producers are conducting turnaround maintenance shutdowns, hence, domestic supply will be tight and counterbalance the condition. As such, local PVC prices are expected to remain stable at the current levels.
