NewsSSESSMENTS: Import US PVC Offers In Asia Market Gain Various Responses, Notable Adjustment Recorded

Author: SSESSMENTS

Market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM that import US PVC offers in the Asia market gain various responses from buyers. To the Southeast Asia market, a global trading house commented that July shipment offers for import PVC offers of US origin to Malaysia and Vietnam market are available at $130-140/ton higher compared to June shipment. However, these offers are deemed too high and unworkable; hence, at the time of publication, no deals concluded yet. The trader opined that tight supply might be the reason for steep adjustment as currently, the US producer is only running at 30% from normal production. Moreover, the producer is still adjusting to the improvement in the US domestic market. Another trader added, Southeast Asian buyers, particularly in Vietnam, prefer to purchase cargoes from Southeast Asian suppliers with similar prices and dutiable cargoes in addition to shorter lead time.

Contrastingly, a local converter in Vietnam stated that the company prefers PVC cargoes of US origin than Southeast Asia origin as the prices were more competitive. Deals for US cargoes achieved at $30/ton lower than the initial offers at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF Ho Chi Minh Port. On June 16, a pipe manufacturer based in Vietnam commented that fresh US PVC offers via a trader are available at $770/ton, on the same payment and delivery terms, $20/ton higher on weekly comparison. While to the Bangladesh market, SSESSMENTS.COM’s pricing database showed that June shipment offers from a US PVC producer stood at $780/ton on LC at sight, CFR Chittagong port, so far, no deals concluded yet.

Meanwhile, to the China market, a trader has sold out all allocation for July shipment PVC cargoes of US origin at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF China Main Port basis. No comparison as the trader did not offer June shipment last month. Despite the anti-dumping duty (ADD) on US cargoes would be imposed anytime by China, the trader stated that it would not affect the company’s dealing with US PVC materials as most of the trader’s customers are re-exporters, as stated to SSESSMENTS.COM.
