Market sources told SSESSMENTS.COM that Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) had selected LyondellBasell’s Spheripol technology for a new polypropylene (PP) plant. The new PP plant will be built in Panipat, Haryana State, India and have a capacity of 450,000 tons/year. IOCL currently operates PP plants in Panipat and Paradip with a total capacity of 1.3 million tons/year which also utilize the Spheripol technology. The state-owned company is aiming at almost doubling its PP capacity within the next five years.
