NewsSSESSMENTS: Nan Ya Plastics Delays Start-up Of New MEG Plant

Author: SSESSMENTS

Market sources in the US informed SSESSMENTS.COM that Nan Ya Plastics Corporation had decided to delay the start-up of its new monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant at Formosa’s complex in Point Comfort, Texas. The start-up of the 800,000 tons/year unit was initially expected in the first half of this year but then pushed back to the third quarter of 2020. Now the producer expects the unit to come online by late 2020 or early 2021.

A spokesman from Formosa Plastics USA, Nan Ya’s sister company, said construction at Nan Ya’s project at the Point Comfort complex was suspended in March to ensure worker safety and physical distancing measures amid concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
