NewsSSESSMENTS: OQ Starts Trial Runs At New PE Plant

Author: SSESSMENTS

Oman’s energy group OQ has commenced trial runs at its new polyethylene (PE) plant at the Liwa Plastics Industries Complex (LPIC), market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM. Tecnimont, a major contractor of the project, said on May 20 that OQ had started bagging its first batch of polymer resins. The complex can produce up to 880,000 tons/year of polyethylene and 300,000 tons/year of polypropylene.

OQ Group, which consists of state-owned oil company OOC, refiner Orpic, and seven other Omani companies, announced last month that LPIC had entered its performance testing stage. In March, it said that the project’s construction had reached 98%. LPIC is Oman’s largest industrial project.
