NewsSSESSMENTS: Review Of China HDPE Film Market Week 16, April 13-17

Author: SSESSMENTS

  • Far East Asia origin $780/ton
  • Middle East origin $770-780/ton
  • Southeast Asia origin $930-960/ton

Comments by market players on HDPE Film as follows:

“Following the uptrend in the domestic China market and due to limited allocation, a Thai PE producer increased HDPE Film offers by $150/ton compared to last week. The current offers stand at $960/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. Responses towards the offers were cold,” a Chinese trader informed SSESSMENTS.COM on Monday, April 13.

“We adjusted down HDPE Film offers by $20/ton from Monday’s level as the futures market softened and buying sentiment weakened,” a Thai PE producer reported on April 14.

“HDPE Film cargoes of Malaysia origin were available between $780-790/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. However, we are not going to take cargoes. Demand from most converters is weak. Strong demand is only seen from mask manufacturers,” a trader in China commented to SSESSMENTS.COM.

“HDPE Film offers from Qatar were between $30-40/ton higher from last week’s levels, available between $770-780/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis,” a trader based in Ningbo told SSESSMENTS.COM.

“On Tuesday, April 14, we sold HDPE Film cargoes to China at $780/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. As the actual demand in China is not strong yet, orders received from the country are not many,” a South Korean producer stated.

“Offers for HDPE Film from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer were adjusted up by $50/ton compared to two weeks ago,” a global trading house revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM.

“Until Tuesday, many US HDPE Film cargoes with producers’ bags were sold to China. We concluded deals at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis for cargoes of this origin. Recently, around 100,000 tons of US PE cargoes were sold to China. The producers are trying to ship 30-40% of the volume in April as in May, the shipment cost will increase,” a trader based in Hongkong informed.

“We have sold out April shipment allocation and even oversold to early-May shipments. Our last deals for HDPE Film were at $780/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. The shipment is from Singapore,” the leading Saudi polyolefins producer stated to SSESSMENTS.COM.

“Market talks have it that HDPE Film offers from a Thai PE producer have decreased again, stood at $900/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. The level is $60/ton lower than offer received on Monday,” a Chinese trader reported on Friday, April 17.
