A trader based in the Philippines informed SSESSMENTS.COM regarding the fresh import offers from a Malaysian polyolefins producer, “A Malaysian polyolefins producer has announced fresh offers for April shipment. As noted, offers for HDPE Film cargoes have increased by $210/ton compared to a month earlier.”
“Import HDPE Film offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer to the Indonesia market remain unchanged from a week earlier, available at $1,350/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. The cargoes will be shipped from Singapore,” said a global trading house.
On March 17, a market source informed, “Import HDPE Film offers from a Saudi producer to the Philippines market have increased by $70/ton compared to last week. The producer maintains the offers firm, without any room for negotiation. Hence, buyers have no choice except to procure at high levels. However, the current offer level is more competitive than the offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer. Yet, compared to regional cargoes, it is less attractive. Some deals were concluded at the initial offers to regular customers.”
“The leading Saudi polyolefins producer managed to sell out all of the allocations to the Vietnam market. As such, the producer is not giving any fresh offers. From a Malaysian polyolefins producer, April shipment offers for HDPE Film cargoes emerged with an increment of $200/ton compared to last month’s level. Demand-wise, although the firm offers in the market, buyers are still hesitating to purchase since market talks have it that local traders are still holding old stock and offering at a lower level. Hence, most buyers halt procurement activities. If traders continue to offer at a lower level, it might drag down the whole price in Vietnam eventually,” said a Vietnamese trader.
“Import HDPE Film offers of US origin to Indonesia are available at $1,320/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. We have no interest in taking this material. In the previous week, we managed to sell Kuwaiti HDPE Film cargoes at $1,300/ton on the same payment and delivery term,” said an Indonesian trader.
