Comments from market players on LLDPE Film C4 market as follows:
“So far, we only received April shipment offers for Saudi LLDPE Film C4 at $800/ton on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia Main Port basis, which is $20/ton lower from last month. The producer asked us to submit bids, however, our company did not submit bids as we are not in a rush to purchase materials. At the moment, we prefer to monitor market development while checking other prices for references. Moreover, the market has been slow due to the lockdown and PE prices are predicted to remain soft onward,” a Malaysian converter informed SSESSMENTS.COM.
“Following the slow demand, volatile crude oil prices, Indonesian Rupiah depreciation as well as the Coronavirus pandemic, we decided to reduce the offers for LLDPE Film C4 to Indonesia market by $20/ton from last week. Although the price has been adjusted downward, the offers were still unworkable,” a Thai PE producer stated.
“In terms of offers, LLDPE Film C4 of Saudi origin decreased by $50/ton compared to last month and the cargoes will be shipped from Singapore. However, we have no urgent need to purchase materials and might have started to purchase materials once new orders are coming in. Our company’s operating rate is still at a normal rate as our factories are located in a safe zone,” a Vietnamese converter commented.
“In comparison to a month earlier, we reduced LLDPE Film C4 offers between $40-50/ton. So far, the Southeast Asia market remains quiet as players are in a fuss due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, the government already implemented lockdown in Malaysia and the Philippines, while Thailand announced curfew to curb the spreading of the virus. In short, demand for finished products in the region has been slow due to the outbreak, hence, buyers are not in a rush to make procurement at the moment,” a Middle Eastern PE producer reported to SSESSMENTS.COM.
