NewsSSESSMENTS: Review Of Southeast Asia LLDPE Film C4 Market Week 19, May 4-8

Author: SSESSMENTS

  • Middle East origin $690-770/ton
  • North America origin $660-710/ton
  • Southeast Asia origin $710-750/ton

Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 as follows:

“This week, Russian LLDPE Film C4 cargoes are being offered at $680/ton, however, we decided to skip purchasing cargoes from this origin due to the long lead time around 55 days. We purchased Saudi LLDPE Film C4 at $690/ton with the shipment from Port Klang, Malaysia. All offers are on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. Currently, most converters in Indonesia are holding procurements and prefer to wait for the clearer market outlook,” an Indonesian converter informed SSESSMENTS.COM.

“This week, deals for Middle Eastern LLDPE Film C4 to Thailand market achieved at $50/ton lower than the initial offers at $770/ton on LC at sight, CIF Thailand Main Port basis,” a Thai trader revealed.

Another converter in Indonesia stated, “We purchased Saudi LLDPE Film C4 at the same level to the initial offers at $720/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis as the producer does not provide room for negotiation. While LLDPE Film C4 offers of Qatar origin are available at $690/ton on the same payment and delivery term, however, the cargoes have been sold out. Demand-wise, demand for shopping and garbage bags in the local market is shrinking especially from bread shops as people are not going out much due to Coronavirus, while for export to Japan, demand is still quite healthy. Overall, the production rate from our end is around 50% from normal rate and our company will be closed for Eid Al-Fitr holiday from May 21 until May 27.”

“Offers for US LLDPE Film C4 stand at $710/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. While for Saudi cargoes, the offers are available at $730-750/ton on the same payment and delivery term, however, these offers are too high and unattractive,” a Vietnamese converter stated to SSESSMENTS.COM.

“We received May shipment offers for Saudi LLDPE Film C4 at $30-40/ton lower compared to April shipment. However, the current offers are still high, as such, we do not take any volume. Moreover, we are not in a rush to make procurements as our inventory still can cover two months of production,” a Philippines converter reported.

A Vietnamese converter contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team on May 5 informed, “We received May shipment offers for Saudi LLDPE Film C4 at $730-735/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. So far, we have not yet to make any deals with the supplier. Speaking of production rate, our factory is running at maximum capacity as export demand in Europe is quite satisfactory. Despite the virus outbreak in Europe, demand is healthy as we sell food bags, one of the essential products. Looking ahead, we think import offers for Middle Eastern PE cargoes in Vietnam will increase as the producers intentionally limit production to maintain higher prices.”

“May shipment offers for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer decreased by $60/ton compared to the April shipment. Despite the adjustment, we prefer to skip procurement due to the sufficient inventory. PE demand in the Philippines has improved, however, we opined that there are still some rooms for PE prices to move lower in the near future,” a Philippines converter voiced out to SSESSMENTS.COM.

A marketing arm of a Middle Eastern PE producer commented, “This week, we do not have any cargoes available for LLDPE Film C4 since we have sold out all allocation for May shipment. Our sell idea for June shipment for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes to Indonesia and Malaysia is at $10-20/ton higher from last week’s level at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis.”
