A source close to the producer revealed Taiwan Chi Mei’s detailed plans on the discontinuation of PS production to SSESSMENTS.COM. According to the source, the producer will stop all GPPS grades production by the end of May while for HIPS, only PH-60 and PH-888H will be discontinued. The other more common grades will remain available.
The source further informed SSESSMENTS.COM that the producer will produce HIPS at the company’s plant in China as the producer will conduct maintenance at the PS plant in Taiwan from June 2020 to February 2021. The source explained that the shutdown will last for a long time because the producer will rearrange the production location. HIPS production at Taiwan plant will continue in March 2021 after the maintenance shutdown. As for ABS, the producer’s supply will not be affected by the maintenance.
