NewsSSESSMENTS: Turkish Trader Prefers To Sell Polyethylene (PE) Cargoes To Europe As Demand In Turkey Still Affected By Local Currency Depreciation

Author: SSESSMENTS

A Turkish trader told SSESSMENTS.COM that the company prefers to sell polyethylene (PE) cargoes to Europe since demand in Turkey is still affected by the depreciation of the local currency. Demand for polyethylene (PE) in Turkey is slow and buyers’ acceptance levels are low. Customers voiced buy ideas for HDPE Blow Moulding and HDPE Film at $1,330/ton and $1,350/ton, respectively on LC at sight, CIF Turkey main port basis. However, the trader has no offers this week. The trader received offers from a Dubai-based trader for a special grade HDPE Film of Saudi origin at $1,600/ton with the same payment and delivery terms, but the offers will be too high for Turkish buyers. On the other hand, such a level is acceptable in the European market. “The better acceptance level of European buyers is the reason why we would rather sell polyethylene (PE) cargoes to Europe than to Turkey,” the trader said.
