PlantsSSESSMENTS: CPC Restarts Cracker After Outage

Author: SSESSMENTS

Market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM that CPC Corporation had restarted its naphtha cracker No.4 in Linyuan, Taiwan, after an unexpected outage. The unit was shut down on July 2 due to technical issues and was restarted on July 6. It can produce up to 380,000 tons/year of ethylene and 193,000 tons/year of propylene.

According to the sources, CPC’s cracker No.4 supplies feedstock for Oriental Union Chemical Corporation’s 250,000 tons/year MEG plant and China Man-made Fiber Corporation’s 400,000 tons/year MEG plant. The outage prompted both Taiwanese MEG producers to lower operating rates at the two units to around 70-80%.

As SSESSMENTS.COM noted, CPC also operates cracker No.3 at the same site which can produce up to 720,000 tons/year of ethylene and 370,000 tons/year of propylene.
