Reaching $2.9 billion in July, the Turkish automotive industry saw a 5 percent increase compared to the same month in 2018 in foreign sales. On a monthly basis, this is the highest export growth in 2019.

The significant increase in sales to the US and the Netherlands contributed to the high automotive export. Sales to the Netherlands and the US rose 131 percent and 55 percent, respectively. Compared to July 2018, the automotive industry’s exports increased by 5 percent in July 2019.

On a monthly basis, this export data was also marked as the fourth highest foreign sales figure in automotive industry history.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, exports to Germany increased by 5 percent. Exports to France rose by 20 percent to $385.8 million. Exports to Italy increased 6 percent with $269.2 million.

Exports to the Netherlands surged to $146.2 million (131 percent). The US market saw a 55 percent increase with $138.3 million. Automotive exports to Poland reached $109.5 million with an increase of 37 percent.

The increase in exports to the US was led by the 343 percent rise in passenger cars and a 100 percent increase in buses, minibusses, and midibuses. In 2016, $700.5 million achieved by Turkey’s automotive industry in exports to the US, while $1.4 billion in 2017. However, 2018 exports saw a drop to $1.1 billion.
